Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) at Vita Dentistry

The CDCP is a federal program launched to reduce financial barriers to oral health care. It helps millions of Canadians access essential dental services when they do not have private dental insurance.

1. No Access to Private Dental Insurance
   You cannot have dental coverage through your employer, student or professional organization, pension plan, or private insurance. 

2. Adjusted Family Net Income Under $90,000
   Your family’s net income — after adjustments — must be below this threshold.

3. Filed Your Tax Return
   You (and your spouse or common-law partner, if applicable) must have filed a tax return for the previous year.

4. Canadian Resident for Tax Purposes
   You must be considered a resident of Canada under tax laws.

If you fail to meet any of these criteria, you may not be eligible.

Apply Online:
You can submit your CDCP application via your My Service Canada Account (MSCA). Once logged in, go to the “Canadian Dental Care Plan” section, and follow the prompts to apply.

Apply by Phone:
Alternatively, call Service Canada at 1-833-537-4342 (TTY: 1-833-677-6262) if you have questions or prefer to apply with help.

Apply Through a Delegate:
If someone is helping you (e.g., caregiver, legal representative), they can apply on your behalf — but must provide legal documentation like a power of attorney.

Check Application Status:
After applying, you’ll receive a code or client number. You can check your CDCP application status online with that information and your SIN (or application details).

Renew Annually:
CDCP coverage must be renewed every year. As of 2025, you need to reapply to maintain coverage.

Under the CDCP, a variety of oral health services are covered up to 100% when provided by an approved oral health provider (dentist, dental hygienist, denturist, etc.).
Common services include:

• Dental exams & cleanings (scaling)

• X-rays and diagnostic imaging

• Fillings and restorations

• Removable dentures

• Root canal treatments

• Oral surgery (under certain conditions)

Note: CDCP reimburses providers directly, and there may be additional costs if the dentist’s fees exceed the CDCP’s standard rate or for services not fully covered.
Pre-authorization may also be required for some treatments.
